Frontier Matter and Function Engineering

Based on a research of surface and interface control, advanced materials control and ultimate measurement

This is a new program integrating conventional Frontier Materials and Function Engineering with materials engineering. Iwate University has an advantage on a research of surface and interface control, advanced materials control, and ultimate measurement. We educate and research of the materials creation based on new theoretical frameworks, as well as the utilization of their functions and the process development of various materials. Solutions to energy and environmental problems can be the hint of them. Specifically, our program consists of environment and energy, materials creation, and frontier chemistry. We educate systematically in science and technology through multidisciplinary collaborative research. We try to gaze at the future development of domestic and international industry including the North Tohoku region. We strive to foster far-sighted, ethical human resources who can contribute to an increase in the level of industry, and promote qualitative, structural innovations.
