We foster expert engineers with an understanding of theory and practical skills along with good managerial abilities
Die-mold and casting support Japan’s manufacturing. This is the first graduate program in Japan specializing in the basic technology for die-mold and casting. The die-mold industry in the Iwate prefecture is at a high level in parts for clocks, electric machines, and automobile manufacturing. The casting industry is also at a high level in automobile engines and machine parts. Furthermore, Iwate is famous for its casting technology as exemplified by the traditional Nambu cast-iron ware. It is now vital to foster human resources so that Iwate prefecture can become a global base in this field. In our department, we foster high-level experts who combine business sense with a knowledge of both theoretical and real-world manufacturing processes. We keep an eye on the development and progress of Japanese manufacturing while remaining in close contact with the needs of the local community. We contribute to the establishment of an internationally viable zone for product manufacturing and to the preservation and development of product manufacturing skills in Japan.
Training with the newest equipment
We have installed the newest equipment in Japan such as fine-wire electric discharge machines (in the Mold course) and X-ray microanalyzers (in the Casting course). Students can master advanced technology.
We offer long-term (6 months) internships. During the period, supervisors will visit the students and confirm their progress. With the supervisor’s advice, students will write their master’s thesis.
