Educate highly specialized technical expert
The fields of electricity, electronics, communications, and information have not only broad academic fields but also extremely rapid technological advancement. In related industries, it is not uncommon for cutting-edge technology to become obsolete in a short time. In our department, in addition to learning the cutting-edge technology, we put an emphasis on having a broad perspective and specialized skills properly backed up by basic knowledge. By integrating the very highly related fields of “electric and electronic engineering” and “information systems engineering”, we provide an education and research system that responds fully to diverse on-site needs with even higher quality than before. Based on the general education and specialized foundation education of the undergraduate, we systematically arrange subjects with a higher level of expertise. And we aim to foster graduates equipped with the skills to discover various issues and resolve them flexibly.
Increasing mushroom production with artificial thunderbolt: Expanding joint research with agriculture and industry
We research on utilization of electrical characteristics and work for the growth of plants or the processing and preservation of food. For example, we apply high-voltage electricity (artificial thunderbolt) to mushroom-growing logs to increase mushroom production. (above: with electrical stimulation, below: no stimulation)
A parallel image processing system by using cluster of small PCs
We construct prototypes of small parallel computers equipped with multiple low-power CPUs for embedded devices. And we research and develop practical image processing and recognition systems by using them.
