Monozukuri Engineering Factory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Monozukuri Engineering Factory was established to provide an environment and experiments for \u201cmonozukuri\u201d (manufacturing) and support an undergraduate education program for students aspiring to become entrepreneurs. Through their activities in on-campus virtual companies, students can acquire the skills needed for entrepreneurs, including problem-solving abilities, project management skills, communication skills and leadership skills.<\/p>\n\n\n

Soft-path science and engineering research center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2009, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Iwate University, established \u201cSoft-Path Engineering\u201d as its research and educational philosophy to create a new type of engineering for a sustainable society. To realize this philosophy, we established the Soft-Path Engineering Research Center (SPERC) in 2011, which consists of three fields: \u201cSafety and Security,\u201d \u201cFuture Engineering,\u201d and \u201cNew Materials and Energy.sophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the understanding that the earth is finite, the center has been working on technological issues such as the development of high-functional materials with less environmental impact, new material evaluation technology, development of material processes, construction of welfare systems based on life and biomedical engineering, and construction of advanced information systems, in order to promote the realization of soft-path engineering. The center has been active as a research organization to promote the realization of soft-path engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, in addition to the Global Research Promotion Division, a new Innovation Creation Research Division was established to undertake ambitious research projects related to robotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this center, faculty members affiliated with the center will conduct practical research by raising the level of research under the philosophy of soft-path engineering, while at the same time deepening synergies among research fields and collaboration with society. By adopting a new research activation mechanism, we aim to form a world-class research center despite being located in a regional university.<\/p>\n\n\n

Research Center for Manufacturing Technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The strong points of Iwate University\u2019s Faculty of Science and Engineering are die-molds, casting, and devices. This is a center for research and development that integrates and combines the research and development of die-molds, casting, and devices. We aim to improve each technology, create new industries and new products, form an academic research base, and foster international researchers and engineers to build a manufacturing hub that is connected to and integrated with the region.<\/p>\n\n\n

Iwate University Research Support and Industry-Academic Collaboration Center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this center is to promote and support Iwate University’s unique research and strengthen the foundation of academic research based on the university’s goals and strategies for research promotion and regional cooperation, and to contribute to regional development by disseminating and returning the university’s educational and research results and intellectual assets to the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research Center for Regional Disaster Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This center aims to clarify the mechanisms and their regional characteristics of natural disasters, especially volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, and floods. We develop disaster prevention and disaster management methods by utilizing the network of industry, academia, government and residents. We also support for disaster prevention promotion and its education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
