My Areas of Research
Expansion of audio signal processing into new areas
The new theme of my research is related to ultrasound, such as ultrasonic communication and the detection and audibility of ultrasonic sources, in addition to the existing challenges, such as noise reduction, sound source direction of arrival (DOA) estimation and sound scale transformation processing, in hearing-range research. As a local challenge, I am also conducting research into the tone and design of Nambu wind chimes.
My Teaching Philosophy
One goal of my teaching is that students should hone their ability to use computers using sound processing as the subject. Real ability only comes from making mistakes and thinking about them, so I want my students to create many programs and fail many times.
