My Areas of Research

Life supporting technologies that enhance people’s daily lives

In collaboration with medical research institutes, at this laboratory we are working on various studies to support rehabilitation and independent living for the elderly and people with physical disabilities, including developing an interface for people with severe quadriplegia to control devices such as electric wheelchairs and computers with tongue movements, developing new rehabilitation systems to support oral function training for people with dysphagia and speech training for people with hearing impairments and developing simulators with which individuals can learn oral care techniques in a way that best suits their needs.

My Teaching Philosophy

I am fostering students and graduates who can understand the problems facing the elderly and people with disabilities from an engineering point of view, and take on problem-solving with a flexible way of thinking that is not restrained by common practice.
