My Areas of Research

Green chemistry that uses water and carbon dioxide

I research catalytic chemistry to advance reactions that are more efficient than conventional methods, and also reduce the use and elimination of chemical substances that are harmful to the environment and people as much as possible. Specifically, I use water and carbon dioxide in high-temperature and high-pressure states, including supercritical states, as a substitute for organic catalysts and inorganic acids, and develop catalytic technologies to convert unused resources, such as biomass and organic waste, into useful chemical substances. I also conduct research in collaboration with companies, national institutes, and Asian countries such as Indonesia.
