Research Themes

Research into the fundamentals of combustion and their application

Automobile and aircraft engines acquire their power from fuel combustion. In order to improve engine performance, it is necessary to assist in the development of new combustion technologies by understanding the fundamentals of the phenomenon of combustion. In my lab we are conducting basic research into this phenomenon, focusing on complicated flow field and concentration field. The results of our research are applied to the development of ultra-small combustors and biomass-fired boilers, and assist in the development of supersonic combustion chambers which enable the production of ultra-fine powder material from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Teaching Philosophy

My educational guidance policy is to foster students and graduates who can be active participants in the field of mechanical engineering by establishing my students’ basic knowledge and, in the process, help them acquire the basic skills to function as members of society.
