Research Themes

Molecular spectroscopy of intermolecular interaction and photoexcited state

Exploring the structure and electronic properties of weakly-bonded molecular complexes is important for understanding and designing of new chemical reactions. We trap the unstable molecular complex in a low-temperature rare gas matrix and reveal the properties of complex from vibrational spectra and quantum chemical calculations. Photophysical and photochemical properties of molecular excited states are dramatically affected by surrounding micro environment. We focus on the stabilization of excited states by controlling molecular environment, and investigate the excited energy deactivation of organic molecular species.

Teaching Philosophy

Through the education and research in the field of physical chemistry, I wish to show students the importance of thinking from the bottom up, the dignity of truth and the pleasure of discovery.
