Research Themes
A Study on Methods for Extending Body Image through the Sense of Body Ownership
We unconsciously control our own bodies in everyday life. In contrast, within virtual reality environments, users can freely control avatars whose appearance, size, color, or even species differ from their real bodies. How far can we transform or alter our own bodies while still feeling ownership over them? To address this question, our research explores the mechanisms and effects of such transformations from the perspectives of engineering, psychology, and design.
Teaching Philosophy
Our goal is to cultivate individuals who integrate engineering expertise with creative design practices to create experiences that are more enjoyable and enriching for people’s lives.
