Research Themes
Impact of topographical changes of estuaries on salmon runs
The rate of return of salmon released in Iwate prefecture has declined year by year, and measures are being implemented to improve the situation. The return of the salmon is strongly related to factors in the coastal environment, such as ocean temperature. However, among these factors, it is said that the reduction in width and depth of estuaries is what is preventing the run to the rivers. It is known that, in rivers where estuary obstruction is observed, the rate of return is lower than in other rivers. I am conducting research into the cause of and countermeasures against this problem.
Teaching Philosophy
I create graduates who are equipped with problem-solving skills and the basic knowledge needed for research in the field of water engineering, and who can take an active role in regional revitalization.
