Education, research, and social contribution to create a sustainable future
The College of Science and Technology aims to contribute to a wide range of areas from local communities to international society through education and research based on science and technology. We foster human resources with deep knowledge and advanced expertise, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable future in which human society and the natural environment are in harmony.
[Educational Activities] Fostering the Next Generation

Combining a broad range of education and expertise
The program provides students with a broad range of knowledge in the fields of science and engineering, and fosters an understanding of the role of science and technology in society. This gives students a high level of expertise, ethical awareness, and the ability to take on the challenge of solving problems.
Data Science and ICT Education
In addition to basic education in ICT (Information and Communication Technology), we have developed a curriculum that supports the acquisition of skills in advanced fields such as “data science” and “artificial intelligence (AI)”.
Practical learning and career development
Through “Problem-Based Learning (PBL),” “Experiments and Practical Training,” and “Graduation Research,” students develop the ability to tackle realistic issues. In addition, we provide work experience through programs such as “social experience learning (internship)” to support students in their future career development.
Cultivation of internationality
We provide opportunities for students to broaden their international perspectives through English study programs and overseas training support. A multifaceted support system is in place to develop human resources who can play an active role in a global environment.
[Research Activities] Challenges in solving diverse issues from basic to applied sciences

Research Connecting the Region to the World
We are active in a wide range of fields from basic research to applied research, aiming for a future in which human society and the natural environment are in harmony. In particular, we contribute to the promotion of local industries and the improvement of international competitiveness through large-scale projects conducted in collaboration with industry, academia, and government, as well as through joint research with private companies.
Challenges to Practical Application
Research results are not only presented at domestic and international conferences and in academic journals, but also lead to patent applications, new product development, and the creation of venture companies. This promotes the practical application of research and realizes technological innovations that meet the needs of society.
Contribution to a sustainable society
We propose solutions to the challenges facing modern society, such as energy and environmental issues, from a multifaceted perspective. Such research is directly related to the creation of a sustainable future and plays an important role in the local and international community.
[Social Contribution] Science and Engineering Approach to Local and Global Society

Efforts to Address Local Issues
Based on cooperative agreements with local governments, we are working to resolve issues unique to the region, such as earthquake reconstruction and measures to address the declining birthrate and aging population. We are also developing specific projects that utilize the results of our education and research to support the promotion of local industries and sustainable regional development.
Contribution from an International Perspective
Through international joint research and academic exchange in collaboration with overseas universities and research institutions, we are taking on the challenge of solving social problems from a global perspective. These activities, along with international network building, also lead to the dissemination of technology and knowledge originating in Japan.
Science and Technology Dissemination Activities
We promote activities to disseminate and educate the public about science and technology through public lectures, visiting lectures, and exhibitions. These efforts not only provide educational opportunities to a wide range of people, but also contribute to the promotion of understanding of science and technology.
