Joint International Symposium with King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand

Faculty of Science and Engineering had a Symposium on June 15-17, 2017. Twenty-three researchers and three students came from the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand to share the knowledge of science and technology between Iwate University and KMITL. Totally 39 researchers made presentations of the cutting-edge research and technology; 16 from KMITL and 23 from Iwate Univ. Besides, 29 researchers, including graduate students, made poster presentations. On the last day of the Symposium, an excursion to the south area of Iwate was arranged. They enjoyed a boating trip down the Geibi Gorge, Ichinoseki. In Hiraizumi, they visited the Konjikido Golden Hall of Chusonji temple and Pure Land Garden of Motsuji temple, which are registered as the UNESCO World Heritage site.
This symposium successfully ended. The exchange on the level of laboratories has continued, and this brought a chance for a student to study abroad in the Doctoral program. Dean Dr. Dusanee of KMITL suggested, “The next symposium shall be in Bangkok!” Further collaboration will be expected.
